3nd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner: A Night of Unity and Appreciation
On November 22, 2025, SHUT UP Until You There (SUUYT) hosted its 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Mattahunt Elementary School in Boston, MA, grounded in this year’s powerful theme: “You Are Not Alone.”
The event welcomed more than 50 families, many of them newly arrived immigrants, reminding each guest that community, compassion, and support surround them—especially during moments of transition and uncertainty.
The evening opened with a heartfelt prayer from Bishop Nicholas Homicil of The Gospel Tabernacle, followed by the warm and uplifting hosting of Valcin, both reminding every family that they are seen, valued, and supported.
A Meal Inspired by Culture and Tradition
Guests enjoyed a delicious holiday dinner prepared by Toutwèl Restaurant, blending traditional Thanksgiving favorites with flavors inspired by Haitian culture. This shared meal symbolized togetherness and belonging—an assurance that no one has to navigate the holiday season alone.

Warm Coats and Essential Winter Support
In the spirit of the theme, “You Are Not Alone,” families received winter coats, hygiene items, and essential cold-weather supplies through the generosity of Circle of Hope and Easy Care Pediatrics. These items were more than gifts—they were an expression of care, dignity, and solidarity.
Continuing their longstanding support, TD Bank provided Thanksgiving turkeys and extra coats for families to bring home, extending comfort and abundance beyond the event.
This year’s dinner also received meaningful support from the Equity and Inclusion – Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Boston, helping ensure that newly arrived families feel embraced and supported in their new community.
Childcare and a Mental Break for Parents
The warm, welcoming atmosphere allowed parents and children alike to unwind, share laughter, and feel supported. Volunteers ensured that every family member felt seen and cared for, helping to create lasting memories during a time of year that can be emotionally challenging for many.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, faith leaders, and supporters whose generosity made this event possible. Your contributions filled plates, warmed families, and brought comfort and hope to our community during this special season.

Reflecting on a Heartwarming and Impactful Celebration
As we reflect on this year’s Thanksgiving Dinner, we honor the resilience of the families we serve and the strength that comes from community. The message of “You Are Not Alone” resonated throughout the evening, reminding every guest that SUUYT stands with them today and every day.
We look forward to carrying this spirit of unity, compassion, and support into future seasons and events.
